As a Community Architect and the founding director of Jurukan Inc., I have spent decades building the systems that support our seniors and youth. I am running for State Senate because it is time we have a representative who understands the technical blueprints of our daily lives and the common-sense values of the people who keep this city in motion.

STATEMENT: A Blue-Collar Movement for New York

Blue-collar workers are the foundation that keeps "The City That Never Sleeps" in motion. We need leaders who share our experiences and bring our voices to Albany to ensure our city works for us, not against us.

Proven Leadership, Real Results

My name is Ruben Darío Cruz II, and I am a New Yorker born and bred.

  • Business Success: I have successfully run an MWBE business that delivers health, wellness, and arts programming to seniors and children across the five boroughs.

  • Advocacy: For over 20 years, I have worked directly with—and when necessary, challenged—public officials and city agencies to secure funding for our senior centers, public schools, and parks.

  • Community Support: I have organized vital programs for Women’s and Immigrant Rights, as well as critical Mental Health seminars to support our most vulnerable neighbors.

Modernizing Our Transit

For New York to thrive, we need a transportation system that respects our time and our health.

  • Clean Air Initiative: Studies show our subway system has higher pollution levels than any other in the world; I am taking the lead to ensure our transit is pollution-free.

  • Closing the Gaps: I am fighting for increased eco-friendly bus service, specifically in Southern Queens and the Rockaways, to fill the "meteor-sized holes" left by our current train system. This means more jobs, punctual commutes, and fresher air for our families.

Economic Protections for Homeowners

I am committed to protecting the financial stability of our "castles".

  • Lien Transparency: I will introduce legislation to make it illegal to place a lien on your property without your knowledge.

  • Fee Reform: I will fight to eliminate the predatory bank and utility fees that drain our paychecks every month.
